DIY Love Infused Healing Salve for You and Your Dogs

I love making safe natural products that can be used by both humans and animals. My little dog was having some itchy skin so I made him a salve. It turned out really well and I have been making this a few times this summer. I combined ideas from two healing salve recipes formulated by holistic veterinarians. And then added lots of love and healing intention into the salve as I made it ;) That’s what truly makes the difference! (All pics below text :)

Ingredients for a 4 oz Healing Salve:

  • Beeswax 2 TBSP

  • Shea Butter 1 TBSP

  • Coconut Oil 3 TBSP

  • Lots of love!

The following oils can be adjusted so they total 4 TBSP (you can use avocado oil and other dog safe oils)

  • Castor Oil 2 TBSP

  • Sunflower Oil 1 TBSP

  • Calendula Oil 1 TBSP

Optional (add after you remove from the double boiler):

  • Vitamin E oil ¼ tsp

  • Lavender essential oil 5-8 drops

Kitchen Equipment You’ll Need:

  • 2 Cup heat tolerant measuring cup

  • Measuring spoons

  • 4 ounce empty jar or tin

  • Pot/pan for double boiling

  • Something to mix the oils with (chopsticks, etc)

Instructions

  1. Put all the ingredients except the optional ones in a measuring cup and add love, healing and intentions for regenerating healthy beautiful skin ;)

  2. Set up double boiler- pot/pan with water, start heating water, put the measuring cup in to melt ingredients indirectly

  3. Stir until everything is melted- about 8 minutes (infuse more love and intention as you stir)

  4. Take the measuring cup out of the pot/pan, add the optional ingredients

  5. Pour into the 4 ounce jar Be careful because this is hot oil

  6. Let the oil set (it will be initially clear and then solidify into salve texture as it cools)

*Please always make sure you and your dogs don’t have any sensitivities to any of the ingredients before applying to the skin.
